Friends Book Club
November 18, 2022 10:00 am In-Person Discussion / 10:45 am  Gallery Tour
Ticket Price: Free

Mark your calendar for Friday, November 18 at 10 am for a Friends Book Club discussion at followed at 10:45 by a guided art tour. We will discuss the book, The Night Watchman, in the Friends conference room, just off the Friends Office.

November’s chill brings us The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich, winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Based on the extraordinary life of National Book Award-winning author Louise Erdrich’s grandfather who worked as a night watchman and carried the fight against Native dispossession from rural North Dakota all the way to Washington, D.C., this powerful novel explores themes of love and death with lightness and gravity and unfolds with the elegant prose, sly humor, and depth of feeling of a master craftsman. Our discussion and the story will be enhanced by a tour of Mia’s works of art.

You may even wish to peruse Louise Erdrich’s books and more at her unique local bookstore, Birchbark Books & Native Arts, near Lake of the Isles (2115 W 21st Street).

Please sign up through the Friends’ office at or 612-870-3045. Early sign up really helps us in planning these tours.

Our December book will be Chronicles of a Radical Hag (with Recipes) by Lorna Landvik.

This event is a Friends Only Event and all our Friends are welcome. Please join us!
